Police have 16-year-old Larry Donell Brown in custody. He ischarged with First Degree Murder in the death of Michael Valentin.
Police said Brown is also linked to two ATM robberies thathappened this month off Fowler. He is being charged with Attempted ArmedRobbery, Armed Robbery (2 counts), Grand Theft of a Firearm, and Felon inPossession of a Firearm.
Brown was the person seen on a bike in surveillance videothat Tampa Police released last week. He was considered a person who police wantedto talk to.
Police said they zoned in on Brown 48 hours ago because ofan open stolen gun case. He was arrested Tuesday night in that case.Authorities believe attempted robbery was the motive behind Valentin's death.They added the security officer was shot once in the upper body. It happened atthe Grande Oaks Apartments off
According to authorities, Brown has a "veryactive" criminal record, which includes 12 felony convictions.
The arrest comes just hours after Valentin's employer,Critical Intervention Services, held a community event at Grande Oaks. They hadfood and games for the residents there. Officials said the goal was to helpgenerate tips and to let residents know that they are safe.
Residents and officers also joined in a moment of silence tohonor Valentin and built a small memorial for him.
His funeral is set for Friday morning in New Tampa.
