Pima County AZ Oct 5 2012 Police say a local security guard was found Wednesday tohave thousands of computer files depicting child sex exploitation, and they areconcerned there may be unreported victims.
Mitchell Beiro, 47, of the 2900 block of West Pincushion Lane, was booked into thePima County jail on suspicion of 15 counts ofsexual exploitation of a minor, police said.
Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucsonpolice spokesman, gave the following account in a news release:
In December 2011, the Tucson Police Department's InternetCrimes Against Children Unit began an investigation into the online sharing ofchild sexual abuse images via peer-to-peer Internet networks.
Detectives traced a computer that had been sharing such filesto a Beiro's address on Pincushion Lane. They served a search warrant on the homeOct. 3 and found "various computer related items, which containedthousands of files depicting the sexual exploitation of minors."
Tucson police said theybelieve Beiro was involved in an unreported child molestation case in California, and they're concerned "that there may beother unreported cases in both Tucson and Southern California."
Police said Beiro is employed as a security guard for alocal security company, which they did not name.
Anyone with information on this case, or about unreportedcases of sexual misconduct, is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
