Myrtle Beach SC Dec 82012 A Myrtle Beach man is being held in the J. Reuben Long DetentionCenter after being arrested for a nightclub shooting on Saturday morning.The shooting happened at Crush Gentleman's Club on US 17Bypass.A security guard standing outside heard the door to thebusiness bust open and a gun shot coming from inside about 3:30 a.m., accordingto Horry County Police Sergeant Robert Kegler. He also saw Gerard Antonio Wattsrunning from the club behind a group of men, and then heard another gun shot.The security guard told police he asked Watts to drop hisgun when he turned in his direction. When the security guard felt that his lifewas in danger, he shot at Watts seven times, according to the police report.Watts was hit by at least one round.A truck then pulled up with a group of men. They took Wattsto the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he was hospitalized untilWednesday.Horry County Police arrested Watts Wednesday. He facescharges of Attempted Murder, and Possesion of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.Sgt. Kegler said no one was seriously hurt in the shooting.There was also a shooting at nearby Red Barn Tavern thatmorning, but Sgt. Kegler says the two shootings are not related.
