A Virginia State Police initiative Saturday led to more than3,000 summonses and arrests on the state’s Interstate highways.
The initiative led to 3,033 summonses and arrests onInterstates 81, 95, 64, 66 and 85, according to a state police news release.There were no fatal crashes reported on any of those highways during theoperation.
Police cited 1,460 speeders and 455 reckless drivers duringthe operation, the release said. Three people were arrested on drunken drivingcharges and 103 were cited with failing to wear seat belts. Also, there were 11felony and drug arrests.
The largest number of arrests or summonses – 1,007 – came onI-81. There were 994 on I-95 and 636 on I-64.
